The Time is Right
There comes a time in every writer’s life when the quiet corners of academia, where discoveries are often confined, no longer suffice. For me, that time is now. My name is Julia Herdman, and for years, I have wandered through the temples, tombs, and texts of ancient Egypt, piecing together the remnants of a civilisation that has fascinated the world for millennia. As an independent researcher and writer, my work falls outside the halls of Academia, where it can be scrutinised and debated, but now, I find it essential to share my findings with a broader audience with an audience that can give me feedback and discuss what I have to say.
I want to connect with open-minded people who, like me, see history as a living, breathing narrative connecting us all.
A New Chapter Begins
This Substack is more than just a platform for my thoughts; it’s the beginning of a new chapter in my life’s work. Here, I will share the stories, research, and insights that have been gathering dust on my desk, waiting to be unveiled. My focus is on ancient Egypt—its religion, history and mythology—but this is not the Egypt of fantastical alien theories or wild speculation. My work is grounded in the real, the tangible, the evidence that generations of scholars have carefully uncovered. If you’re here looking for tales of extraterrestrial architects at the Great Pyramid of Giza, I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed. But if you stick around, you will be surprised by just how revolutionary what I have to say is. So, if you seek a deeper, more nuanced understanding of one of the world’s greatest civilizations, you’ve come to the right place.
Why Substack? Why Now?
For years, my work has found its home in the lesser-visited portals of the academic world. But now it’s time to open the doors and let the light into what I hope will be a much bigger audience. I believe that history should not be an exclusive club; it should be a conversation open to all curious enough to join. This Substack is my invitation to you—to step into the world of ancient Egypt as I see it, to explore the complexities and marvels that have captivated me for so long.
My journey through ancient Egypt has been one of both wonder and revelation. I have delved into their understanding and use of numbers and mathematics to understand not only the design and construction of their monuments but also the mythology that shaped their worldview and the historical events that defined their empire. Now, as I prepare to publish a series of books that present these discoveries to the world, this Stack will serve as the path that leads us there together.
What to Expect
Between now and January 2025, all the articles I post here will be free, a gift to those who share my passion for history. These pieces will cover a wide range of topics, from the daily lives of the ancient Egyptians to the latest archaeological findings that challenge our understanding of their world. But come January 2025, I will begin to share something even more special—research that, if embraced by the academic community, could redefine how we understand this ancient civilization.
These upcoming articles will be the heart of my new work, the pieces that will form the foundation of my forthcoming books. They will be rich in detail, grounded in evidence, and crafted with the care and precision that this subject demands. For those who are truly invested in uncovering the secrets of ancient Egypt, these articles will be a treasure trove of new insights and perspectives.
An Invitation to Join the Journey
If you find yourself intrigued by what I have to say, if you feel a connection to the past that goes beyond mere curiosity, then I invite you to join me on this journey. Subscribe to my Substack, and you will be among the first to read the new research that will, I hope, shine a fresh light on the mysteries of ancient Egypt.
Of course, I understand that not everyone may be ready to commit to a subscription yet, and that’s perfectly fine. You’re welcome to enjoy the free content I’ll share over the next year to dip your toes into the waters of history before diving in fully. And if something I write resonates with you, sparks a thought or stirs an emotion, please let me know in the comments.
I’d be honoured if you’d consider supporting my work through a subscription or simply buying me a cup of coffee as a gesture of appreciation.
The Road Ahead
This is just the beginning. The road ahead is long, and I’m sure there will be many twists and turns, but it’s a journey I am eager to undertake. I hope you’ll decide to join me so that together, we can explore the temples and tombs, the myths and mathematics, the lives and legacies of a people who, though long gone, still speak to us through the echoes of time.
